Weekly Review 24th-31st December

We had a good day at the track on Saturday with all four dogs running. With two in the morning and then two featuring on RPGTV in the evening. It is great news that they will continue to show Crayford on Saturday nights throughout 2018 and we hope that this continues for a very long time.

This week is the first of the new schedule, with Crayford adding a Tuesday night meeting and replacing their Friday night for a Friday morning. Jack is at the track on Tuesday night so feel free to say hello. We are looking forward to organising a few club nights on Tuesday nights throughout the year so hope they will be well supported.

Club dogs performances

BULLSEYE BULLY – Bully ran Saturday night in a H3 after showing plenty of early speed and trapping better than last week he managed to turn in front. He showed his jumping ability taking lengths out of the rest of the field from the second bend. After some questionable jumping from trap 2 he managed to hold on for second.

BULLSEYE DESTINY – Destiny found some trouble early on in her 540m race Saturday morning she hasn’t been getting the rub of the sand over the 540m trip recently. Destiny is down to run over the 380m trip next week. The change in distance will do her good and we hope for a better result. We walked her on Sunday last week and she was very bouncy which is a good sign for the race.

BULLSEYE DOLLY – Dolly competed in an A3 this week after not getting her best break from trap 5 she was unlucky not to make the bend after showing some good pace. The winner ran well coming from last to first and certainly looks like it will be open class over further. This just shows the level of competition Dolly is facing at the moment and she is holding her own.

BULLSEYE LOLA - Lola had her first run in the “Bullseye” prefix this week finishing 4th in an S7 live on RPGTV. Lola has looked like she wants further than 540m for a while now and she will be put forward for a 714m trail sometime this month. For now though she is available to the grader over 380m and 540m due to how versatile she is.

Other news

Next week sees the launch of the new schedules with ARC and SIS competing with two different schedules. There will be 4 morning meetings every day so looks like betting shops will be quite hectic trying to fit 4 races within 15 minutes. For us the increase in racing is good for the sport but only if the bookmakers contribute to increase rehoming figures and ensure that with the extra dogs running welfare is given priority.

We will be launching our brand new member’s zone next week. I hope all members find it easy to create an online account and get involved with the discussions taking place. Feel free to contact us if you have any trouble getting signed up.

That’s all for this week we wish a very happy new year!
